Spent a week at Troon, trying out the new camera. Still getting the hang of it, and I took more bad shots than I did good ones, but I managed a couple that I kinda like. So here for you to tear apart in criticism...

Back from the dead...

I thought I'd bring this blog back to life. So, hello again.

I've got a bit more into taking pictures recently for several reasons. First was a new mobile phone with a much better camera, which mean taking picutres was much easier to do.

The second was my buying a fairly decent camera, to try and have a go at getting better at photography. I'm not there yet, but we'll see. I'll be using this blog as a sounding board, to get opinions and advice.

In the meantime, here's a couple of photos I've taken while not working. Both taken on my phone, with some filters from the systems photo editing software.

Instagram

Popular iphone app Instagram was recently released for Android, so I downloaded it to give it a try.

First impression are that it's nice and user-friendly, but there are fewer options than the Camera360 app I've had for a while now. Also, unlike Camera360, you don't seem to be able to access a saved version of the "converted" image. With 360, you have the original image and the "tweaked" version, which is a nice feature.

Don't get me wrong, I like how some of the images look, and I'll certainly make use of it in the future, but it's not going to be my first choice.

I seem to be taking a lot of "moody" black and white photos just now. I really like B&W images, and my phone seems to do them quite well.

This is a sculpture at Kelvingrove Art Gallery, and I clicked on impulse when I saw my daughter through it. I'm really pleased with how this turned out.
